Upstream Dream - Memoir
Upstream Dream is the memoir of Sally Goodson, whose lifelong goal was a professional engineering career. Entering engineering school in the 1970s after the passage of Title IX, Sally became one of the first women to design, build, and install offshore oil rigs during the volatile oil and gas boom of the 1980s. Working in the male-dominated upstream energy sector, she navigated technical challenges, workplace bias, and offshore life with determination, adaptability, and grit. Her early experiences laid the foundation for later success influencing global energy standards. This memoir offers a powerful look at the offshore oil and gas industry, gender bias in STEM, and the perseverance required to break barriers and build a lasting career.
